Advantages of MUP
|
- The construction of several pipelines in one go creates advantages of scale, as a result of which investments are more likely to result in a viable business case and supply and demand for several products are brought together. It is often harder to get separate initiatives off the ground.
- A pipeline infrastructure is a supplementary sustainable mode of transport, alongside transport by road, water or rail.
- The network of companies linked to the infrastructure provides new opportunities for unregulated networks. This is interesting for internal supply within the network, but also for joint purchasing from outside the network.
- A pipeline infrastructure can contribute to improved energy efficiency and lower CO2 emissions. Both are very important when it comes to discussions on corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
